Position Opening: Production Designer

Philadelphia | Part-time

Kole Made is looking for a designer who has some experience producing technical drawings for manufacturing and production in a wood shop setting.  The ideal candidate will have a technical/creative/design background and be able to understand Kole Made’s design sensibilities while also pushing us to consider new possibilities and ways of seeing things. The Production Designer will assist with CNC operations, translating concepts into technical drawings and cut sheets, and building a CNC library.  This is a highly-collaborative position at a tight-knit company, and the Production Designer will have a meaningful impact on the success of the company.

Essential qualities & skills:

  • High level of proficiency with 3D modeling and production software (SketchUp and Mozaik)

  • Understanding of basic fabrication techniques and how conceptual designs might be fabricated

  • Previous CNC experience

  • Ability to understand and create detailed shop drawings & measurements; attention to detail is key

  • Some familiarity with shop machinery, cabinetry materials, and basic woodworking methods

  • An appreciation of wood, quality materials, and fine craftsmanship

  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Converting conceptual visuals to fabrication-ready shop drawings and cut sheets

  • Creating and updating our CNC library in Mozaik

  • Meeting deadlines for project launches and communicating in a timely fashion with KOLE project managers

  • Organizing information in our filing system

  • Communicating and troubleshooting as-needed with shop team during fabrication process

  • Potential CNC operation (TBD)

  • Schedule: Part time to start, with growth opportunities in the next six months
